Telephony provided to luxury Manchester hotel

With its Victorian architecture and fresh approach to hospitality, Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is the perfect expression of its Manchester setting.

Housed in a magnificent terracotta Grade II listed building, Kimpton Clocktower has a history that dates back to 1890, when the building first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. Today, it’s a destination where glamour and luxury meets one-of-a-kind craftsmanship and Ridgewall Group subsidiary company, QDOS-sbl Group, were delighted to play a part in transforming one of Manchester’s most recognisable landmarks.

In a busy industrial city with a hard-working spirit, Kimpton Clocktower is a sanctuary. Set in the heart of Manchester’s vibrant city centre, the hotel offers 270 stylish guest rooms and suites with original features offset by modern touches such as smart TVs and free internet access.

The Refuge Dining Room, curated by the award-winning team from Volta is a ‘glam-meets-industrial’ destination restaurant with an eclectic menu that appeals to all – local workers, city residents, visitors, business travellers, and everyone in between. The hotel includes 17 meeting and event spaces including the largest hotel ballroom in the northwest of England.

To meet IHG, ICT Brand Standards for Kimpton Hotels & Resorts, QDOS-sbl installed an on-premise Mitel MiVoice enterprise level, business telephone system that delivers voice, messaging, mobility, presence, conferencing, collaboration and hospitality applications. TigerTMS iCharge offers a comprehensive set of call accounting features enabling hotel staff to manage billing for guests and administration teams. iCharge also provides an interface to Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud Services – an enterprise Property Management System (PMS) platform for hotel operations, offering comprehensive, next-generation capabilities that hotels need to enhance guest experiences and improve operating efficiency.

TigerTMS InnLine provides a fully featured hospitality messaging application focused on the needs of guests and hotel staff. In addition, InnLine delivers a range of system wide features including multi-level auto attendant for effective call handling. Mitel 6920 flexible IP phones were installed for front and back of users offering a modern design and a high quality communications experience. GPO 746 rotary hotel phones in guest rooms provide a traditional and authentic look and feel with built-in modern technology.

With BT having announced that traditional ISDN and PSTN circuits will be switched off within the next few years and Kimpton Clocktower Hotels telephony contract up for renewal, the Mitel MiVoice platform incorporates the latest SIP technologies, offering a like-for-like migration of long held legacy telephone numbers, whilst at the same time halving the cost of annual line rental; and offering significant savings on call charges too.

Having completed the installation of the Mitel MiVoice platform, Ridgewall Group now provides around the clock maintenance services for the hotel. Mitel Software Assurance is a complement to the Mitel maintenance support contract. It ensures the hotels telephone system is always fully updated with the most current software updates and releases.
